Analysis of music artist website
I will be analyzing the website of singer Lana Del Rey - http://lanadelrey.com/
When the page opens, a picture of the artist will appear whom is promoting a new album which catches the visitors eyes as the artist is the main focus of the image.
This is useful for promotion. This page appears and contains interactive buttons to purchase the album and to enter the main site. when the curser is over the interactive button, it becomes highlighted to show where the page is.

When the main page appears, at the top of the page is one of the artists music videos which plays. This is to promote the artists new album and would gain publicity by her fans. This is also useful to widen fan ratio and introduce new people to the page and become fond of the artist. At the top there are links to the different pages of the website. The links go to pages for news of the artist, Promotional offers, images and exclusives for the fans and other interactive pages to attract more to the fan base. The buttons in the right corner are links to the artist Facebook and Twitter feeds, as well as information, YouTube and gmail to gain more information on the artist.
Below this is images of the artists earlier releases which can be accessed by clicking on the images, Again this is useful for the growing fan base for the artist to gain access to her work and share this through social media to gain the artist publicity. This is thanks to Web 2.0 which has enabled the artist to broaden her horizon to new corners of the internet and across the globe.
This is the bottom of the page which shows links to YouTube video releases of the artists work and also can be accessed and viewed on the website. this allows fans and visitors to watch her work and again share this across the internet and gain international fandom. This is what the artist and her record companies want so she can grow in popularity.

Anlysis of music video
This is the original music video that we will be using to create a one minute long segment of the song. The song is called "You don't want to dance with me" by the group Monarchy.
The song was released in February of 2013. The song consists of two singers, one male and one female which is used to contrast the different feelings of the singers.
Th lighting changes from time to time from pitch black to a blue spotlight which shines on the two artists and the extras. The camera is mainly using close ups and mid shots of the artists. This connects to Goodwin's Conventions as the fans want to see the artists and maintain popularity for the band so if they are the main focus then the fans know that they are that particular band. This is also very important in terms of publicity and again links to goodwins conventions. Both artists within the music video are represented equally with lengths of camera duration and shots, however there are parts of voyegeristic parts of the use if the female body which Gooswin had included within his convention theory and is very common with many music videos as they may link to the lyrics or to expan to a male orientated audience to gain more publicity and money. This is very effective within this and many like thi as it achieves th appeal the artists and the music company wants.

The Happy practice video
Our 30 recreation video of a section from the song "Happy" by Pharell Williams. - This was to practice how to structure a music video. Overall, this has taught me how to edit our video with sharp and simple cutaways. This will help me for the preliminary piece and for the main task as I have developed skills in order to create a full length music video of 3 - 4 minutes.
